Crippen and more links

Crippen Pardon-Seekers The Mail reports (with photos) on the latest effort to clear the name of Harvey Crippen, though judging by the comments, the effort is met with much scorn. Count me among the naysayers: I still say he was guilty, even after I saw the special about the recent DNA revelations.

Dr. Mercer Shown Mercy? Dr. Charles W. Mercer, an Okemos, Michigan doctor who was accused of murdering his first wife four decades ago -- in a very widely watched case, featured in Readers Digest, as I have it, and here on CLEWS -- will not face a trial for murder. The prosecutor has quietly dropped its pursuit of a hearing before the Michigan Supreme Court. The death of Sally Mercer may always remain a mystery.

Gangsterologists Central The authors who specialize in examining crimes of the Depression Era, 1920s-1940s, once enjoyed the support of Cumberland House, a Midwestern publishing house out of Nashville, but since a buyout the line is dropped. Now the authors, as a group credited with impeccable original research on their subjects, have formed a hub on the web to lend one another support until other publishers eye their work.

And in that theme, the video of the week comes from the FBI website -- a tribute to a 101-year-old FBI agent with wild stories to tell, a man who dodged a few bullets to reach the century mark.

Hi, Laura - the Daily Mail is a tabloid. It tires to pretend it isn't, but it is. Most of their paper is gossip and right-wing rant.

If Crippen is guilty where is the body of his wife Cora? Did she run away to America as he claimed?

Read books! The latest one I have said suggests that is exactly what happened and there is a Belle (can't remember the surname, but it isn't any of Belle's other aliases) living with Belle's sister Theresa in NY until the end of the 20's.

The Belle Rose alluded to in the post above has been conclusively proved NOT to be Belle Elmore. Wrong age and wrong religion, to name just two of several mistakes to come out of the MSU teams research. Further information on this subject can be found on casebook.org's Crippen threads.
