A brief fiction interlude

Crispin Cue the classical music. I don't read that much fiction, let alone mystery fiction, and unfortunately I can't accept fiction books for review. There are so many true crime books in themes I enjoy that I'll never be caught up. But for those of you who appreciate a well-written historical mystery I recommend

Veil of Lies: A Medieval Noir

It doesn't come out until October, but it's available from Amazon. I've known Jeri Westerson for years and traded critique with her. I always thought her fiction was incredibly well written and she would surely find a publisher. St. Martin's it is. My very high opinion of Jeri's fiction was confirmed this week when a popular mystery author (someone even I have heard of) gave her book a hearty endorsement.  Award-winning writer Julia Spencer-Fleming got an advance copy of Jeri's book and remarked:

"VEIL OF LIES marks a spectacular debut!  Westerson's "medieval noir" page-turner sports vigorous plotting, robust characters, and superb scholarship.  An utterly beguiling alchemy of Canterbury and Connelly.  The Crispin Guest series scores a bulls-eye on the first shot.  The stuff of legend!"

Well done, Jeri.
